WHAT IS YOUR INNOVATION/IDEA?

Crewmix is a fun mobile app that connects your group of friends with other interesting groups of friends around you. Once there’s a mutual match you can participate in group chats and make plans to meet up. Making new friends with your friends is a safe, comfortable, and natural way to socialize. Crewmix is perfect for use in your own city or exploring a new city, at concerts, music festivals, sports games, bachelor / bachelorette parties...the possibilities are endless. We strongly believe that this app will positively impact people’s lives around the world by facilitating real social interactions in an increasingly digitalized “social” age. 

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF

After receiving my business degree at Cal Poly SLO, I moved to Silicon Valley where my career has taken me to various companies working in IT, finance, and marketing project manager roles. To further my education and social network I went to Santa Clara University for a MBA. After graduation I needed to burn off all those late night eats from working days and studying nights, and found myself fully addicted to triathlons. My absolute favorite and most challenging races have been the Ironman 140.6. The mental and physical challenges of those races helped me find two things; first and foremost, that a driven mind can do anything and second, my cheekbones, which I hadn’t seen since undergrad. Since then I have also worked as a freelance fashion model building strong connections within the fashion industry and the charities they support. As a co-founder of Crewmix I am using everything I have learned thus far to follow my passion of connecting great people together.

WHY ARE YOU PARTICIPATING IN THIS COMPETITION?

HackCancer brings together great people to support good causes. I have seen cancer’s devastating power impact the lives of those I love, and I strive to create a day when nobody has to endure this terrible disease by supporting the advances made by organizations like this. I am honored to raise funds and awareness for the real life superheroes at HackCancer.
