What is your innovation/idea?
Have you ever wanted to help a friend? Maybe they just had a baby or are recovering from surgery? Or maybe they recently received a cancer diagnosis? When that happens, we all want to help, but it’s tough when you have your work, your family, and no time. We often say, "Let me know if I can help," but that rarely happens because it puts the burden on the person in need.
Flower is a support app to help you help the ones you love. In part, it is like a wedding registry but for support. People can list what they need help with or could use and get help from friends and family. The other part is like a volunteer board, where your friends and family can offer help (or offer their superpowers) before you need to ask. It can be tremendously difficult to ask for help (even when you need it), and very hard to know what kind of help to give (even when you really want to help!). With Flower, we are changing how we take care of each other - because life happens.
Why are you participating in this competition?
Years ago my father was diagnosed with terminal gastric cancer, and I went from working in tech to caregiving. Not long after that, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, and I’m happy to say that she is currently cancer free. Three years ago, a dear friend passed from lymphoma. It is through these experiences that we decided to build Flower in the first place. Raising money to support cancer research so we can pitch our app to support those going through cancer is like aligning the stars for us. Together, let's find a cure.
